Underwent successful surgery
Kone (leg) underwent successful surgery early this morning in Vancouver to repair a lower limb fracture, Canada national team announced.
Analysis: Kone suffered what appeared to be a broken leg on Thursday and was taken to hospital where he underwent surgery, which was confirmed to have been successful. The injury nonetheless rules him out of the remainder of the World Cup and could potentially keep him sidelined for the entire club season as well, with his focus now shifting entirely to recovery.
Awaiting surgery
Kone (leg) is at the hospital awaiting surgery, according to manager Jesse Marsch, per James Sharman of Footy Prime.
Analysis: Kone went down with an apparent broken leg Thursday and will now get further testing done, as the midfielder is already set for surgery. Unfortunately for the midfielder, he will not return to the World Cup due to the injury, potentially now also set to miss the entire league season. More on his status and recovery should come in the next day or two after his surgery and operation are complete.
