Gives up one goal versus South Africa
Kovar made three saves and allowed one goal in Thursday's 1-1 draw against South Africa.
Analysis: Kovar didn't face a lot of pressure, if not late in the game, conceded on a well-taken PK and had his best save shortly thereafter to block a daisy-cutter and preserve the result. He has surrendered three goals and made seven saves through two games. The Czech Republic will face Mexico on Wednesday to close the group stage.
Concedes twice in opener
Kovar registered four saves and allowed two goals in Thursday's 2-1 defeat versus South Korea.
Analysis: Kovar started between the posts Thursday, opening the World Cup as Czechia's No. 1 keeper. It marked his first start in a major international tournament. For the first two-thirds of the match it was going very well for him and his country, but a late South Korea surge resulted in two goals conceded and ultimately the loss. Still, Kovar made four saves, keeping his side in the match and preventing a much worse result. Next up is a must-win match versus South Africa Thursday in Atlanta.
